The Race of Gentlemen:Anthony's Take
Anthony went to The Race of Gentlemen in Wildwood. After the nor'easter, the sand was perfect for the racers but the weather was garbage for the crowd. Great community, and his hot take: let cars and bikes up to the '70s race.

A convincing vintage hot rod and a prepared beach racer aren't necessarily the same car. Here's where class eligibility, mechanical preparation and a realistic build plan meet.

This week we're going to discuss The Race of Gentlemen. So this past weekend, I attended The Race of Gentlemen down in Wildwood, New Jersey.
It's an interesting crowd of people. Pretty cool to see the different styles that people have. A lot of people are in that old school fashion, like round glasses, just the cool, old school vintage style. Really cool event. But it's not an event that I would say is for everybody. You've got to really like motorcycles, the old school, vintage style, beach classic racing, down the beach type of vibe.
My personal opinion on this event was that because of the nor'easter the week before, they probably should have rescheduled this event. The racing conditions were perfect for the guys racing, because the sand was packed down. But overall, for the attendees, the weather was just garbage.
It was cool seeing the old school cars coming by, the old school bikes, 1940s, 1950s. It was cool to watch them race. It was just muddy, mushy. I think if the weather was better, it would have been more enjoyable, because it was cold, it was rainy.
But other than that, if you go with the right crowd of people, no matter what the weather is, which I went with a great crowd of people, we had a great time, we made the best of it.
It's a really cool event because literally people from all around the world show up. Just seeing the support in the race community that they have. If somebody's car broke down, everybody would jump in to fix it. Somebody's bike stalled out, everybody was jumping in to fix it. In that aspect, really nice community, really cool.
You sit, you have a couple of drinks, you watch the races. Really good food, too.
As far as the cars, they should start allowing newer bikes and cars, maybe up to the '70s, because 40s and 50s, the older these things are getting, the harder they're getting to find, the harder it is to find parts for them. So there's just a lot less of them attending.
But again, what do I know, right? On that note, guys, The Race of Gentlemen is a fun event. Cool event, if you have the opportunity, check it out. I definitely will be back, though.
