There aren’t enough superlatives to talk about how much we love the look of this bike…now if could just get a leg over the saddle of one and a hand on the throttle!

Debuting at the Frankfurt Auto Show (yes, auto show), the 1200R is rightfully being called Ducati’s hottest Monster ever. Here’s a bit from Cycleworld’s first look review:

“The R in the model name signifies that this Monster joins the Diavel and Multistrada in adopting the 160-horsepower version of the ever faithful Twin Spark 1198 Testastretta 11° liquid-cooled 90-degree V-twin. Compared to the previous top version, the Monster 1200S, the new Monster 1200R boasts 15 extra horsepower (175 hp at 9,250 rpm), while peak torque now is 97 pound-feet at 7,750 rpm (up from 91.8 at 7,250 rpm).”

Holy crap! We’re now into superbike territory with some of those numbers and the bits and pieces Ducati used to make this bike. Plus, dry weight is listed at 397 lbs., about 5 lbs. less than the Monster S, so you’re going to feel that power and then some.

Ducati had to increase front and rear wheel height to increase ground clearance for extreme lean angles, so short-legged riders might start feeling a bit challenged by the 32.6 inch seat height. The same Brembo brakes found on the 1199/1299 Panigale bring this “monster” to a halt.

No list price has been posted yet, but if this is meant to compete directly with the new BMW S1000RR, then expect something in the neighborhood of $14k.
