We’re big fans of Bull-it. Hell, we’ve already reviewed and written about two of their jeans — the Carbon SR6 for men and Vintage SR6 for women. So when they sent us a Carbon jacket to try out, we accepted it with a huge amount of gratitude and some “up yours” to the makers of other products who continue to ignore our requests (pleas) for demo merchandise.

When we pulled the jacket out of the box, we could tell right away that it had the same level of fit and finish that Bull-it puts into their jeans. It feels substantial…and it should. The Bull-it Carbon jacket is made of Covec, the same material that makes their jeans so damn safe you can slide along the pavement singing the chorus to “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” with no visible road rash. This jacket and their jeans will “soak” up all that abrasion before your skin will.

MensCarbonHoodieThe Bull-it jackets also come with standard protectors, but offer the CE approved Level 1 Covec Impact Division Gravity (knee/elbow), Integral (shoulder) and Polygon (back size S,M,L), so you can bounce around a bit and still have protection where you need it.

While a lot of jackets skimp on pockets, Bull-it decided you can’t have enough. But they did it without making them obtrusive. Two outer chest pockets with snap closures and two zip up outer side pockets give you plenty of places to stash whatever you need to keep handy. An inside “gun” pocket can be used for a phone and/or sunglasses instead. And there’s even an outside zip-up sleeve pocket.

What we also liked about this jacket is the snap off hoodie. While we’re now riding in temps ranging from low 60s to high 90s, we can tell the hoodie will come in handy later this fall when we might need it on or off the bike.

There’s not much to find wrong with this jacket other than it does get warm in temperatures that start hitting 85 and over. But we’d rather sweat now than bleed later.

For $279.95  you’ll get a jacket that will give you as good or better protection than leather, and it will make you look damn fine while doing so. The Carbon jacket comes in men’s and women’s sizes ranging from XS-5XL, so no matter how small or big you run, this one’s got you covered.
