Several months ago, the folks at Cyron Lighting gave us an H4 Headlight LED Retrofit Kit to try out. We gave it to one of our Harley Riders who promptly put it on his friend’s wife’s bike. His friend was evidently too old school to want to give an LED a try. His loss.

After a fairly easy install that let her keep the existing headlight, the results were noticeable. See above. And here’s what the old headlight looked like with the stock halogen headlight.

The Cyron H4 delivers a bright 2500 Lumens at 20 watts, so the power usage is low which your battery will appreciate. It also gives a wider, brighter viewing angle of the road while delivering 6000K of ultra clear daylight white light. There is a pre set high and low beam, so no extra headlight adjustment is needed after installation. It does come with an active cooling fan system as an added protection to make sure the light runs cool and the bulb lasts longer. So you do have to install the ballast.

The retrofit H4 comes ready to install with a three pin connector that will fit all standard motorcycle headlight wiring harnesses and about 90% of the bikes out there. The main brands it won’t fit are Victory and new Indians.

What’s it cost? All of $69.95. And for that you’ll get all of the above, plus a one year warranty and over 20,000 hours of life. 

In a couple of weeks, Cyron says they’ll be introducing a driving light retrofit for $69.95 a pair. The part number to look for will be AB881-A6K. If that set offers as much of an improvement as their H4, it should be worth the wait.
