Yeah, we know. There are those of you out there that would rather not wear one. A female rider friend of ours once cut out the bottom of a Coke can, drilled a couple of holes on each side, ran some yarn through it, and rode around with that tied to the top of her head hoping the local cops would pull her over. They did, but that’s another story…

Since we live in a state that isn’t too keen on small aluminum disks as headwear, but we also like some options when deciding how to encase our noggin’, we broke out the open face TORC Route 66 helmet for review. Yeah, yeah, we know the Lucky 13 has some mixed connotations, but we liked the graphics and said to hell with connotations.
What we like about this helmet is that it’s light, most of the suede-like inside can be removed and washed, it comes with a snap on visor, and it has a loop in the back to hold goggles in place if that’s your thing. A snap-on, full bubble shield in clear or smoke is extra.
