We don’t know too many people who like to clean their bike. All those nooks, creases and crannies are a pain in the ass to get to. But all of us balloon up like a peacock when someone tells us how great our bike looks. Until there’s such a thing as a cleaning fairy, the onus is on you to keep your bike looking that way.

If you want to make it hard on yourself, go ahead and wait weeks, or even months before you give your ride a good cleaning. There is an easier way – and all you need is a spray bottle, some Ivory dish soap, and a soft cleaning cloth. Take a 32-0z spray bottle, put a half teaspoon of the Ivory soap in it, then fill it with water. Spray the solution on every surface of your bike and wipe as you go.

Unless your bike has been through a bug cloud, the Baja 500 or some other major scum magnet, this is the easiest and best way to keep your bike looking like new without busting a gut to get it that way. Just remember, the key to wiping is all in the wrist.
